8 French restaurants in Auckland that always got my attention
8 French restaurants in Auckland that always got my attention.
“We took the ferry from Auckland to Northcote and walked up to the Engine Room. What a great spot! As expected, We thoroughly enjoyed the soufflé as a starter. For our mains, we had the duck (delicious) and the snapper (fine but not out of this world). We split the panna cotta for dessert, which was amazing! The wine list tended toward the pricey, but we found a Pinot Gris that we both enjoyed.” — Jason L.
“Everything they say about the twice baked goat soufflé is true! A classy local joint for a romantic dinner or a culinary trailer for a Bridgeway cinema experience. Great cocktails and wine list and helpful staff. Worth a sunset trek over the bridge.” — Hiran T.
“The Engine Room offers a great dining experience. It's not a formal, stiff, high end place with lots of carefully thought out areas and an excruciatingly well-paid interior designer. It is a high end restaurant with an open plan, a view into the kitchen, a chalk board menu, lots of ambience and amazing food. I had the Steak frites (steak and chips in French) which were absolutely to die for, followed by an extravagant chocolate dessert. Probably my daily food budget, both calorific and monetary, in one meal, but it was definitely worth it.” — Sarah B.

“I need to give 6 stars seriously. The food is so so good over my expectation. The 2 and half hour lunch ( well organised timing) I had fish, venison, beef and other 2 dishes for 5 course just cost me $65 dollars, unbelievable for the service and quality of the food! I go to good restaurants every year at my birthday for a good meal compared to those Michelin restaurants the cost of a great meal in Auckland is just 1/4. Last time went to Grove was great too a bit more fency but I like Sidart now , it's fantastic. Recommend for a special occasion you won't be disappointed. Love it.” — Pearl L.
“I was really excited to finally try Sidart's Tasting Menu. The waitress was great. My partner and I had the 5 course and they gave us different dishes so we could try a bit of everything. The service was impeccable and the food almost as good as the waitress. Can't wait to go there again once their menus have changed.” — Evelyn W.
“Phenomenal experience and food. Our server, Katie, was both very knowledgeable and professional. She also went out of her way to ensure our experience was as good as possible. The fixed menu is rotating so there's not much use in going into details on the food -- suffice to say everything was excellent. Would definitely recommend doing at least one wine pairing for the table as it really completes the experience.” — Aaron B.
