Looking for a place to travel that has everything you could want? Then it shouold be the largest island in Korea, Jeju-do(μ μ£Όλ)!
You can hike up South Korea's highest mountain, Halla-san, or climb the incredible tuff cone Seongsan Ilchul-bong.
For a less-demanding nature experience, meander along one of the Jeju Olle Trails and explore tangerine-trimmed country roads, jagged coasts and narrow lanes dotted with cottage-style homes made from black lava rock.
And of course, since the ocean is never far away, you can always plunge into the blue seas to view coral and dig into Jeju-do's unique cuisine, including seafood caught by haeneyo (female free divers)!
You'll never want to miss:
1. Seongsan Ilchul-bong
Seongsan Ilchul-bong, also known as "Sunrise Peak", is a Unesco World Heritage site and one of the most popular tourist destinations on Jeju-do. The 182m-high, extinct tuff volcano is shaped like a giant punchbowl, with a forested crater that is ringed by jagged rocks.
To do the sunrise expedition, you'll have to spend the night in Seongsan-ri,
a sleepy village filled with motels and restaurants catering to the hiking crowd.
Not an early riser? It's also a popular daytime hike!
2. Jeju Folk Village
The Jeju Folk Village is a must-see for anyone interested in Jeju's culture and history! The park is filled with traditional buildings from across the island, some reconstructions and some hundreds of years old.
You can watch craftsmen at work, buy their products, enjoy traditional song and dance performances, and even visit an ostrich farm! The Jeju Folk Village is an educational and enjoyable experience for the whole family.
And now, it's time for authentic food!
3.Yetnal Patjuk
Other than having Jeju cuisine in the traditional building, you'll be greeted by warm smiles and the sweet earthy aroma of red beans as soon as you walk in the door if you choose to enjoy your meal in Yetnal Patjuk.
The wooden tables, exposed beams, and heavy earthenware add to the rustic charm. And you can't go wrong with any of the soups and porridge on the menu, including some made from lotus flowers, pumpkin, and seaweed.
