Give These Indian Cuisines A Try when You're in Melbourne

7 authentic Indian restaurants worth trying in Melbourne.

“Great service and very accommodating to food allergies. We ordered the tasting menu and my group included people with no dietary restrictions, a vegetarian, a gluten intolerance and a dairy free diet. There were substitutes for everything. It really is unauthentic but everything was delicious And beautifully plated. Highly recommend the balls of glory and the ice cream dessert at the end. A great place to celebrate a birthday and jam to some good music” Kimberly T.
“Food, cocktail and service are top notch!
Highly recommend the Don't Tell Aunty cocktail” Louisa B.
“What a tasting menu - $55 for seven mega delicious courses. I would have loved to been there with a group of friends but even as a solo dinner on a weeknight work trip I loved the vibe. Great tunes. Super friendly staff.  Highly recommend.” Jessica A.

“What a wonderful surprise and great Indian food!! We decided to eat there because of the ratings here on Yelp. It didn't look like much, just some local Indian eatery.  The first time we went, couldn't even get in! So we made reservations for the following night. Oh my God, it was so much better than I expected. The food was wonderful. Some of the best Indian food I've eaten since I was in India 15 years ago. Also, if you have peanut allergies (like I do), there are many dishes they can make without the peanuts. And they're careful about cross contaminating dishes. I had absolutely no problem. The restaurant staff were excellent, friendly and attentive. If you eat dinner, I recommend making reservations. Lunch may well be the same way, so again, I recommend giving them a call. It is worth it. Wonderful food and a good staff in a small & delicious local Indian eatery.” G. R.
“We stopped here for a quick dinner on my last night in Melbourne. It was cold and rainy outside. The restaurant was full of people and there were a couple of small tables outside. The place is not large but seems to use space efficiently.
The girl at the counter said we could sit outside or, if we wanted there was a table for two that we could have for 45 minutes inside. We sat inside, ordered quickly and we're served quickly as well. The food was really tasty and we finished in about 46 minutes, not really feeling rushed, but they definitely wanted the table back for the reservation.
We had the chaat platter and mixed grill... to get a sampling of their offerings in our limited time. The tandoori chicken was really excellent.
I suggest making a reservation. Also, my cell phone had just about zero reception once we hit the small alley where this place is located, so be aware if you're trying to meet someone there.” Doug B.
“tasty Indian food but very small portions. I got the chicken tikka tandoori and there were only a couple small pieces of meat for $16. My friend had the bhel puri, samosa chaat, and mango lassi and enjoyed everything but found the food to be a little too spicy.” Izzy W.
